Walgreen to buy stores from LaFrance Holdings

Walgreen plans to pay about $438 million for 144 stores from Stephen L. LaFrance Holdings that are operating as names including Super D Drug and USA Drug, according to a story in The Wall Street Journal. The deal includes a distribution center, a private-brand business and corporate offices in Little Rock, Ark. The stores, which will keep their names, are in Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
