Miami health system plans some $1B in hospital upgrades

The Jackson Health System in Miami -- a taxpayer-owned system –- says it needs to spend up to $1 billion to modernize and upgrade its hospital facilities. The investment is necessary as a direct result of years of neglect that this institution has painfully endured. The board has asked for a special election in November to seek voter approval for an $830 million bond to support the work. Read The Miami Herald story here.
