Dollar General’s Popshelf banner heads to Texas

Dollar General will expand its higher-end Popshelf retail concept to Texas this spring, opening in a former Pier I location in McKinney, as part of the retailer's plans to grow the chain to 1,000 stores by 2025. Popshelf stores are typically larger than Dollar General units and most items are priced at $5 or less, making it competitive with Five Below, which has grown to about 1,100 locations since the first opened in 2002, says The Dallas Morning News
