Redevelopment of Southbrook Mall in Memphis, Tenn., gets more funding

The economic development agency for Memphis, Tenn., has approved an additional $1.5 million for the Southbrook Mall redevelopment project. The $7.5 million project involves replacing the roof, redesigning the space into a town center and using the existing movie theater as a community center. Read The Commercial Appeal story here

Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort plans tower addition

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort is planning to build a tower with 349 guest rooms. The 14-floor structure will be finished by 2020. Read the Spectrum News story here

Dual-branded Marriott with condos coming to San Jose, Calif.

University of Tennessee building $1.1B worth of projects

Major League Rugby stadium planned in Houston

The Major League Rugby team in Houston is planning to break ground on a 3,500-seat stadium. The city is providing some public incentives, and Christensen Building Group has been tapped to carry out the work. Read The Business Journals story here

2 hospital projects approved in Fla. city

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration approved the construction of two hospitals only a few miles apart in Venice, Fla. The Sarasota County facilities will cost an estimated $212 million and $225 million to build, and construction could begin this year. Read The Business Journals story here

Connecticut airport moves ahead with $1.4B infrastructure plan

The Connecticut Airport Authority is planning to build a new terminal, improve ground transportation and increase car rental space under a 20-year master plan at Bradley International Airport. The $1.4 billion plan is designed to accommodate increased passenger traffic. Read the WWLP-TV story here

Riverfront aquarium proposed in Detroit

New Market Properties purchases retail centers in Ga., Tenn.

Brixmor has sold to New Market Properties, a division of Preferred Apartment Communities, two grocery store-anchored retail centers: the 70,203-square-foot Governors Towne Square near Atlanta and the 68,658-square-foot Greensboro Village near Nashville, Tenn.
