Hotel rooms in Orlando, Fla., to grow by more than 15,000

The Orlando area is among five U.S. cities with more than 15,000 hotel rooms planned, according to industry data tracker STR. That’s a surge in the number of rooms planned since STR’s reports this spring, which projected 9,904 rooms just a few months ago. Most of the surge is due to Universal Orlando Resort announcing two hotels at the former Wet ’n Wild site with a total of 4,000 rooms. Read the Orlando Sentinel story here
